2026 marked a significant year of development for our young performers. In February, they had the fantastic opportunity to visit Broadway, take classes with Disney Theatrical, and learn about the movement and vocals from Disney artists in The Lion King. This experience culminated in a Broadway matinee performance, making it truly unforgettable.
The 2026 Monmouth Arts Teen Festival
On the day of our final dress rehearsal, we embarked on a field trip to Brookdale Community College to participate in the Monmouth Arts Teen Festival. This event celebrates the arts with students from across Monmouth County. We were proud to be one of the few middle schools attending, and the only one competing in the musical theatre category. Our students received exceptional scores and glowing feedback from the adjudicators, which served as a fantastic preparation for our show weekend.

The 2026 NJ Jr.Thespian Festival for middle schools
On May 9th, our Thespian Troupe 11638 attended the NJ Thespian Festival for middle schools at the Grunin Arts Academy. A total of 15 of our performers participated, with the chance to compete for a Thespy award in solo, duet, or group categories. Numerous schools from across New Jersey were present, many of which offer drama as part of their curriculum, while we stood out as one of the few schools with an after-school program. Our performers proudly received purple (superior) and blue (excellent) ribbons for their group, duet, and solo performances, impressing the adjudicators with their characterization, dance, and vocal talents. In addition, the festival hosted a mask contest. Our 8th graders Matthew D. and Callie M, won grand prize and first runner up for their incredible masks!
